Founded in 1924 by Mr. Ganesh Bhatkal, Popular Group of Companies has a rich legacy in the world of books. Starting as Popular Book Depot, our journey began with a single store that quickly became a trusted name among readers. In 1963, Mr. Sadanand Bhatkal and Mr. Shivanand Gokarn expanded our presence by opening a shop at IIT, later joined by Mr. Manmohan Bhatkal. The legacy continued in 1977 when the store was renamed New Popular Book Shop under the stewardship of Late Mr. Shivanand Gokarn, his wife Late Shrimati Shailaja Gokarn, and their daughter, Late Surekha Gokarn. In 1988, Mr. Sudhir Gokarn and Mrs. Sneha Gokarn took the helm, driving the company toward greater heights.

Now, with 100 years of experience, Popular Publishers and Distributors have grown significantly, expanding to multiple locations and becoming the first choice for book requirements in engineering, management, and school subjects. We proudly supply books to various schools across major regions, catering to different educational boards such as NCERT, CBSE, ICSE, and international curricula. Our extensive inventory is organized by set and standard, ensuring that we can meet the specific needs of professors, students, and institutions alike. Additionally, we are equipped to supply books to libraries of all major schools, colleges, and large institutions.
